Born in Ulm, Germany, in 1970. After studying comparative literature and philosophy at the Free University Berlin and the Université de Paris VIII, she was a research associate in the Theodor-Fontane-Archiv Potsdam from 1997 to 1998 and was responsible for the Berlin and Brandenburg events for the Fontane year. From 1999 to 2003 she was research associate in the Department of Studies of Feminist Literature at the University of Hamburg and member of the editing team of the biannual journal figurationen: gender, literatur, kultur. Her dissertation deals with the figure of the man in crisis as a conservative critique of capitalism. She is active as a freelance journalist in the areas of contemporary literature and film. Since 2003 she has been a research consultant to "relations." Recently she has co-edited Gender Revisited: Subjekt- und Politikbegriffe in Kultur und Medien (Gender Revisited: Notions of Subject and Politics in Culture and Media, 2002) and Ein Denken das zum Sterben führt: Selbsttötung – das Tabu und seine Brüche (A Thinking Leading to Death: Suicide – The Taboo and its Breaks, 2004).
